Original Saundspel Message #33015

Space, I'm comparing your proposal with the Ig sounding system using the GA dialect. You have made an early step toward traditional orthography by using i for <iy> before ng, and y for <iy> before a vowel as the onset /j/ for that vowel. You have used the magic e to use the sounds of the letter vowels. I would let the children use capital vowel letters first instead of magic e for this transition to TO. Note that the emphasis for quality instead of sound quantity in the GA dialect makes Ig possible. Dennis.

Unchanged in quality for the Ig system, because letters used as vowels (w
and y) can have the quantity of voice determined by position.
