Solar Homes Tour

Six homes with electricity-generating solar panels will be on the second annual Solar Homes Tour. The homes include environmental features like solar hot water heating, double pane windows, low voltage lighting, off-peak timed appliances, and native and drought-tolerant plants. Each home will be open for two hours.

Special AD Meeting
Our next 53rd Assembly District Democratic Congress meeting will be an exciting diversion from a normal meeting and an event that no one will want to miss.
We have secured Mr. Asad Farhad as our guest speaker. Mr. Farhad is the former Deputy Minister of Finance for Afghanistan and currently is an advisor to the World Bank.

His topic will be how and why the current US foreign policy in Afghanistan is failing and offer corrective suggestions as to how to reverse the tide.
His perspective is from an insider's point of view, as he was born and raised there and his father was an adviser to King Zahir Shah. He was educated in Kabul and graduated from the University of Beirut in Lebanon. He attended graduate school in the US at New York State University.
He and his wife Nooria immigrated to the US over 20 years ago after the Russian invasion. He was in private business here until three years ago when he was offered the position as Deputy Minister of Finance in Karzai's cabinet.
He continues to reside and work in Kabul and is here for a month's visit with family and friends. Promoting the successful rebuilding of his homeland is his passion.
