Kerry-Edwards, Boxer, Harman, and my favorite Mike Gordon. Id like to think the fighting & killing in Iraq & Israel/Palestine will end. Id like to think we will have a Freeway World Series. Id like to think positively, progressively & liberally. Id especially like to think that we are all doing all we can to give this November election our best effort.
And another thought, in 1783, Ben Franklin described England as a once great & happy country, being torn apart by avarice & ambition while our public councils are confounded by private interests. Sounds like the good old U.S. of A. in 2004.
The world knows that Dubya is despicable or Bush is a Bumbler, and that the Republicans are reprehensible. Personally I have had a belly full of Rumsfelds rumbles, Roves rants, Wolfowitzs shining, Cheneys chatter, and Condi Rices concoctions. Since our selected President Dubya has been in office, the USA has literally lost face worldwide. The USA has lost too many jobs, amassed enormous deficits, stifled honest legal criticism, curtailed freedoms, allowed 45 million to be without healthcare coverage, penny-pinched programs and, worst of all, changed our history from help thy neighbor to favor major business orientation. And I must not overlook environmental destruction! Since when do we compare corporate wealth to peoples health & have to choose between the two???
I write this shortly after the first two debates, & on KCET, the historian Michael Beschloss likened the Kerry-Bush debate as Adlai Stevenson
