WHO IS CDC?

CDC is an official Party organization with status within the State Democratic party. The President of CDC is seated on the Executive Board of the Party and the three Executive Vice Presidents are seated on the State Central Committee. CDC is composed entirely of the membership of charted Democratic clubs which choose to affiliate. As such it represents an elite of California's year-around grassroots Democratic activists.

Annually the CDC holds a "grassroots" Convention and Issues Conference where clubs send delegates to participate in discussions, adopt resolutions and become updated on new ideas. Recent workshops have included the State Budget Crisis, Health Care, Mental Health Issues, the Rising Tide of Racism, International Issues, Jobs and Economic Conversion, Environmental Issues and a host of other topics. The results of these workshops and positions on issues are published in the annual Convention Report and sent to delegates and clubs. CDC is known for its Leadership Training workshops, available to affiliated clubs on a local or regional basis. Topics include Leadership Training, Coalition Building, PAC Reporting, Precinct Organizing, Fundraising, Conflict Resolution, The Politics of Diversity, Parliamentary Procedure, Forming a New Club, and The Structure of the Democratic party. New topics are always being developed.
