together ever since.
After this, she joined Kathy O'Neill's campaign for secretary of state. O'Neill narrowly lost to March Fong; but she introduced Teresa to Jerry Brown, who soon invited her to be his assistant director of organization. It was during this time that she met Gray Davis, Brown's fundraiser and later his chief of staff. Teresa was invited to Sacramento, but when she said no, the Governor opened a Los Angeles office.
Teresa has enjoyed her years of service both as a volunteer and, in the latter part of her career, a paid staffer. Her career has been rewarding and,

most of the time, highly enjoyable. Her concluding words were: " the volunteer system really works!" Next we heard from Angela Davison from George Nakano's office. She reported that the budget has been delayed and there is no news on the energy front yet regarding the purchase of transmission lines. We concluded the meeting by holding our annual election. The nominees were read by Nominating Chair Teresa Bird, and all won by acclimation. Our 2001-02 officers are: Lori Geittmann, president; Bobbie Buescher, vice-president; Bob Bohner, recording secretary; and Shirlee Browne, treasurer.

An Open Letter to Senators Dianne Feinstein, Barbara Boxer, and Congresswoman Jane Harman
I am writing to appeal to you for help with prescriptions for those on Medicare.
I am single and retiring this year. I have just switched over from a company health plan where I co-paid $ 15 per prescription for medicine. I was in total shock when I ordered my first prescriptions under Medicare.
|
You could consider me an average, middle income individual. Financial experts say that when you retire you need about 75% of your previous income to live on. I can see my retirement expenses being even higher than before retirement just because of the high cost of prescription drugs. Between Social Security and my modest pension plan it doesn't come close to even 75%, so I will have to tap into my savings from 45 years of working. As you are probably aware, those savings have dwindled to only half of what they were a year ago.

will be held only one day & then destroyed. What he has done ( as an NRA member) is elevated bare knuckled politics above the law!
I recently came across a copy of a magazine called " America's First Freedom," published by the National Rifle Assn. It has a narrow, tight, angry, and almost vicious focus. It is about protecting lives ( but whose?). It is about our civil right to protect our own life. It is about protecting the 2nd Amendment ( the right to bear arms). But whose American way of life do we want to follow, GUN-MAN or PEACE-MAN?
In 65 pages there are 25 gun ads, plus other ads for knives, scopes, and gun paraphernalia. It says that if we give up the use of guns, we lose our freedom. It says that Clinton was willing to accept a certain level of killing to further his political agenda. And it says that gun enthusiasts are just a bunch of nice guys who enjoy shooting at targets ( never people).
From a series of articles in the World Press Review, I learnt that there is a world-wide small-arms scourge. In Pakistan two families have been shooting each other for 9 years. In Johannesburg, there have been 300,000 small arms killings in a year. In Colombia, children as young as 11 & women are using guns, grenades, mortars, & missiles. In Sierra Leone, the streets are littered with amputees & casualties of gun experts. In Athens, 50 to 80 shooting incidents occur monthly. And then there are the ever incendiary Balkans....
I'm not familiar with USA statistics, but it doesn't take a rocket scientist to know that carrying concealed weapons
