Next Meeting

WEDNESDAY,
January 27, 2010
at
7:30 PM
at Manhattan Bread and Bagel
1808 North Sepulveda Boulevard
in Manhattan Beach

We have a very special speaker this month. Janice Martin, director of programs and volunteers for Habitat for Humanity of Los Angeles, will bring us up to date on the building projects initiated by Habitat. She also has a wealth of information on the housing situation in the Los Angeles area. As you know, Habitat corrals volunteers to build houses for low income families who also contribute "sweat equity" to the project. President Jimmy Carter is well- known for his work for this group. Ms. Martin is looking for volunteers to help build but also she is looking for persons who can volunteer time in the Habitat office at 177th Street and Figueroa in Gardena.

Welcome to our home page!

The Beach Cities Democratic Club is located along the beautiful coastline of the South Bay area of Los Angeles County, California, U.S.A., from the Hollywood Riviera section of Torrance north through Redondo Beach, Hermosa Beach and Manhattan Beach to El Porto and El Segundo and points inland.

Join our club!

Print out our Web page form or download and print the 92 KB PDF file. Mail or bring the membership form to our monthly meeting or any club event.

The BCDC meets at 7:30 PM on the fourth Wednesday of every month (except December, when we have a holidays party) at the Manhattan Bread and Bagel in Manhattan Beach, and we participate in many local events.

If you want to stay up-to-the-minute and you are a club member, please join the Beach Cities Democratic Club Yahoo group at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/BCDemClub/ to receive announcements of current and upcoming events and information on important issues.

On September 2nd, many Beach Cities Democratic Club members joined in a vigil to support President Barack Obama's attempt to reform Health Care in America. The vigil was organized by Tony Hale from the Democratic Action Center along with other organizations like Health Care for All-California, which has been fighting for single-payer health care for many years.
The vigil took place on Torrance Blvd. and around the corner onto Madrona. Many motorists honked their horns in support of health care reform. Only one car, filled with young Republicans, presumably, heckled the demonstrators, telling us to "Go to Canada!" Several demonstrators replied that they wish they could afford to go, to get better health care!
The vigil continued into the evening well after dark.
Dency Nelson, who will preside over the Beach Cities Democratic Club meeting this month (Wednesday, September 23rd) taking part in the Health Care Reform Vigil in Torrance.

GOOD VIDEOS ... (ask your local Music/Video or Movie Rental store to carry these items!)

"SiCKO" is FINALLY being shown on Cable TV! Check your local listings.

SiCKO DVD, Michael Moore's examination of America's ailing health care industry and how the lobbyists in Washington, D.C. are keeping it that way. The DVD includes over 80 minutes of new material! Funny and tragic at the same time.

Hacking Democracy DVD, Bev Harris' investigation of stealing elections through computerized electronic voting. It actually shows Florida election officials trying to destroy evidence of vote-countign fraud!

Who Killed The Electric Car? DVD

GOOD READS ... (ask your local Bookstore and Library to carry these books!)

NEW 2007 PAPERBACK EDITION!

"Fooled Again: The Real Case for Electoral Reform" by Mark Crispin Miller, Revised Edition with over 100 new pages covering the 2006 elections.

Book "Fooled Again: How the Right Stole the 2004 Election & Why They

"Fooled Again: How the Right Stole the 2004 Election & Why They'll Steal the Next One Too (Unless We Stop Them)" by Mark Crispin Miller.

This is a very important and interesting book if you value living in a free and open democracy. The people behind Bush/Cheney stealing the 2000 and 2004 Presidential elections have no interest in free and fair elections nor in allowing you any free choices in how you live your life.

For more information on "Fooled Again" visit Mark Crispin Miller's website.

Also read Greg Palast's book "The Best Democracy Money Can Buy" to find out more on how Bush/Cheney stole the 2000 election from Al Gore.

NEW 2007 PAPERBACK EDITION!

Includes a new chapter on Republican efforts to steal the 2008 election! Go to Greg Palast.com for more information.

"Armed Madhouse: Who's Afraid of Osama Wolf?, China Floats, Bush Sinks, The Scheme To Steal '08, No Child's Behind Left, and Other Dispatches from the Front Lines of the Class War" by Greg Palast.

Another great book by Greg Palast, investigative journalist who grew up in "The Valley" but who was forced to publish his findings overseas in The Guardian and Observer newspapers in the U.K. and on the BBC. Greg uncovered the election fraud in Florida before the 2000 election, which the Republicans stole from Al Gore, even though Gore officially got a million more votes than Bush!

"Was the 2004 Presidential Election Stolen? Exit Polls, Election Fraud and the Official Count" by Steven Freeman & Joel Bleifuss, with a Forward by Representative John Conyers, Jr.

The original exit polls, which were quickly covered up, showed that John Kerry won almost all of the "Battleground" States by substantial margins, and that John Kerry won the 2004 Presidential Election by 7 MILLION VOTES! What happened? A very important and easy-to-read book.
