LAFN has recently received a grant from the US Department of Education to provide assistance to students and their families for use the Internet. As a part of that grant, LAFN is making a number of LAFN accounts available at no cost for the first year to students and families. The only requirement for the account is that the student/family send us a report at the end of this school year that discusses how the account was used and what effect the use of the internet had on the student's school work.
These are regular LAFN individual accounts that are paid for the first year. Student accounts may be renewed while the program continues. If this program has to be discontinued, then they can be renewed for following years at the LAFN individual account rate. After registering for a student/custodial account, you will send a letter requesting that this be a student account. Include the user id, students name, grade, school, and a statement that you will submit a report on usage at the end of the school year. Mail that to the address that is listed for mailing the check, or send the information in an e-mail to ops@lafn.org.
