Troop #852 officially began as Brownies in January of 1996. The girls participated in an Investiture Ceremony on May 8, 1996. On that day, the United States flag was flown over the United States Capitol building in recognition of the troop's Investiture Ceremony. The troop received the American flag and will use it in future flag ceremonies. Special thanks to the staff at the Office of the Chaplain of the U.S. Senate for arranging the flag flying for Brownie Troop #852.

The troop members flew up to Junior Girl Scouts in a Bridging Ceremony on May 17, 1998. The event was full of excitement. The Brownie Elf played a trick on the girls. He hid all of the pins and patches around the westside of Los Angeles. The Brownie Elf must have class, because he surprised the troop members with a very special mode of transportation. The girls rode in a black limousine collecting green ribbons, scavenger hunt clues, pins, and patches. The event concluded with a celebration dinner at the California Pizza Kitchen in Brentwood.

The members are now registered as Cadettes. One of the young ladies in the troop is earning her Silver Award. This is the highest honor given to a Cadette Girl Scout. For her (minimum 30 hour) project, she is collecting gently used children's clothing, sports equipment, wheelchairs, cosmetics, disposable diapers, and blankets, as well as collecting and reburishing 500 stuffed animals. All of the donated items will be sent to Warsaw by Northwest Airlines at no expense. (Thanks a million, Northwest!) As an extension to her award project, she, along with her parents, will hand distribute all of the donated aid to three different orphanages and one hospital in Poland this summer. Scouts, living in the different Polish towns and villages, will assist with the distribution, as well as act as volunteer translators.
