OUTCOMES REPORT

Southwest Industries

July 1, 2000 – June 30, 2001

Southwest Industries is our work activity program located in Gardena. We have an average enrollment of 121 adults with developmental disabilities who are employed in the facility or in the community.

We had 13 effectiveness and efficiency objectives we wished to meet for the year beginning July 1, 2000 and ending June 30, 2001. The results are summarized below for your convenience.

Objective One: Maximize the number of consumers who advanced to a higher level of vocational placement either within the facility or in the supported (community) employment program.

Objective Two: Minimize number of consumers who transfer to a lower level program within the facility or in the supported employment program.

Objective Three: Maximize consumer referral to facility.  We need to obtain a certain number of referred consumers (from our regional centers) to keep our enrollment at its maximum. (Note that not all referrals are accepted into the program.)

Objective Four: Maximize Full Utilization of Service. This objective measures the percentage of available openings for consumers that are filled. The maximum program capacity is 135, and our goal is to have 90% enrollment.

Objective Five: Save the State of California dollars by placing consumers in Supported Employment Services, as opposed to Work Activity Program.

Objective Six: Achievement of higher vocational skill level by consumers. This objective is measured by the Percentage of consumers enrolled at Southwest Industries who learned a higher level vocational skill (such as gluing) throughout the year.

Objective 7: Increased earnings of Consumer per Hour. This objective measures the percent of consumers in the work activity center who earned a greater hourly average than the preceding reporting period.

Objective 8: Maximize Attendance:  Similar to the public schools, we are reimbursed a daily rate per consumer per day attended.

Objective 9: Maximize the percent of consumers who enroll in the Activities of Daily Living classes that we offer.

Objective 10: Attainment of Individual Behavioral Objectives. This objective actually measures the percent of objectives that were met, rather than the percentage of consumers who met their objectives. The reason for this is that some consumers may have 10 or so objectives.

Objective 11: Place consumers in Competitive or Supported Employment. This objective records the number of consumers placed.

Objective 12: Utilize supportive counseling and vendored services (such as speech therapy). This objective measures the percentage of consumers using these services.

Objective 13: Maximize Satisfaction of Persons Served in the Program. This information was obtained through questions asked in the consumers Annual Staffing meetings.
